I Used to Struggle with APT and Tight Hips Too (And Got Laughed at for a Soft Butt!)

Let me take you back to high school basketball practice. I drove to the basket, had a nice bucket while leaving someone in the dust, and got smacked on the butt by a teammate - good job. Instead of cheers, I got laughed at. My butt was soft—thanks to anterior pelvic tilt (APT).

Fast forward to my desk-job years. Sitting all day made things worse:

  • Jumpers Knee: Thick kneecaps, lots of ice.

  • Stomach Poke: My stomach would always poke out.

  • Duck Butt: My Butt also.

  • Torn Things: Torn Achilles (from just passing the ball) and Meniscus.

  • Old People Joints: Bending the knees and shoulders fully was painful, so I'd just bend a little - even though I would lift weights. 

  • Tight Lower Back: Some days I couldn’t even move.

  • Blocked Hips: Hip flexors were always on overdrive.

  • Popping Hips: This isn't like a finger pop.

  • Pelvic Floor issues: I'll let you google what this can be.
     

I tried all the trendy fixes: couch stretches, hip strengthening exercises—they felt good in the moment but didn’t solve the problem.
 

Now? I’ve fixed my APT, and here’s what’s different:
 

  • Abs that are actually abs (no more teddy bear stomach).

  • Glutes that are 🍑 (an unripe one) and no longer 🍦 (No more laughing at me when getting smacked on the butt now).

  • A loose, balanced core that’s ready for action.

  • Running pain-free (I’m no marathoner, but chasing a train is a breeze. It feels like I'm gliding when I run now 🛸).

  • Playing basketball—pain-free and feeling strong (beating up on kids in a game of 1-1 keeps my confidence high 🕺🏽).

I’m not just someone who’s been through it—I’ve made it my mission to help others. After years of working as a personal trainer, I’ve transitioned to online coaching to reach more people like you: desk disasters and ex-athletes who want to get back in shape, fix their posture, and feel amazing again.​

It feels like the fitness industry today thrives on overwhelming us with endless routines, flashy equipment, and trendy workouts to keep us hooked. But here’s the truth: you don’t need all that noise. Fixing your tilt and mastering the simple basics is all it takes to build a strong foundation. From there, it’s about maintaining (for the rest of your life) with straightforward, effective exercises that actually work.
